POST TITLE: CONVOY LEADER
NUMBER OF POSTS: 10
Duty Stations: MALI
Gao, Timbuktu, Kidal, Aguelhok, Tessalit,
Ansongo and Menaka etc
DURATION: 9 MONTHS
RENUMERATION: BETWEEN USD $180 & $240
PER WORKING DAY PLUS DAILY
SUBSISTANCE ALLOWANCE (VARIABLE
AMOUNT)

RESPONSABILITIES
Within the delegated authority, the Convoy Leader will carry out the following duties :
- Ensure pre-departure checks and duties including air hose couplings, oil and lubrication levels, cooling systems,
brakes, tires and batteries status are performed by drivers.
- Ensure vehicles are properly lined-up that the trail is the last vehicle in the convoy final mechanical checks are completed recovery truck is included in convoy communications devices are functioning "convoy commander"
sign on the front and rear of the convoy commander`s vehicle.
- Ensure the cargo is secured and correctly covered to protect it from being damaged by prevailing weather conditions loads are securely loaded, lashed and secured with straps or chains.
- Conduct pre-departure briefing by telling drivers the rules while on the road, traffic laws and regulations, speed limits, time and distance gaps, routing plans, review schedules, and March discipline.
- Ensure respect of the correct procedures while the convoy is underway and at halt locations review duties of personnel during the convoy and adjust them as required control activities of the drivers.
- Upon arrival, update the drivers on additional orders/instructions from the convoy commander instruct drivers to comply with instruction while unloading their vehicles inform drivers of the time and place to assemble for the
return trip check if after-operation checks are performed recommend disciplinary action for those drivers who violated driving rules during the convoy operation dismiss drivers is needed.
- Upon finalization of convoy operations provide a full and complete after convoy report.

QUALIFICATIONS, & REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Education and qualifications
High school or equivalent diploma is required. Technical or vocational certificate in movement control, transportation, logistics
management or a related field would be advantageous.
Heavy vehicle driver’s license is mandatory. Heavy forklift experience and license would be advantageous.
Work Experience
At least 4 years of progressive responsible experience in movement control transportation operations, road transport operations,
logistics operations or a related field. At least 2 years past experience in a UN organization or field mission would be
advantageous. .
Language: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency
in spoken and written French or English is required. Knowledge of both languages is an asset.
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment interview and verification of past experience.
